There are several kinds of emerging environmental contaminants (EECs), also known as Contaminants of Emerging Concern:

• Pharmaceuticals and Personal Care Products

  • Eg: Illicit Drugs, Antibiotics, Prescription Drugs, soaps, deodorants

• Agricultural Chemicals

• Industrial Chemicals

 

EECs can also be classified by their method of action.

• Endocrine Disrupting Compounds (EDCs)

  • Bisphenol-A (BPA), Human Contraceptives,

• Bioaccumulation
